How the wizard works

UK energy grant eligibility runs on six variables: where you live (England / Scotland / Wales / Northern Ireland — different schemes apply per nation), your current EPC band, your Council Tax band, your property type, what heating system you currently have, and whether you own or rent.   • Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) — England and Wales. £7,500 for air source heat pump, £7,500 for ground source. Owner-occupier, valid EPC, replacing fossil fuel heating. To 2028.
  • Warm Homes Plan — UK-wide, up to £30,000 per property for whole-home retrofit. Eligibility varies by local authority and EPC band.
  • Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) — England (Council Tax A-D + EPC D-G), Scotland and Wales (band A-E). Free or subsidised loft, cavity wall, solid wall insulation.
  • Warmer Homes Scotland / Home Energy Scotland — Scotland-only. Combined grant + interest-free loan up to ~£15,000 for renewables, plus full grants for insulation in low-income homes.
  • Nest (Wales) — Wales-only. Means-tested grants for heating, insulation, and renewables. Free for eligible households.
  • NIEA Affordable Warmth — Northern Ireland-only. Insulation and heating grants for low-income households.
  • ECO4 — ended March 2026, included for context only. GBIS now covers the equivalent insulation lane.
